Velvet, Venice or Turkey (?), 16th century, red velvet background, gold woven decoration of a blooming flower (alternatively tulip or carnation) in a network of ribbons that meet under a crown and palms (slight wear and tear in the upper right, mounted in a cope, winding). mandorles, braided (wear, cuts, holes). To be compared with : Isabelle Errera, Collection d'Anciennes Étoffes, p. 113, n° 222; In the Berlin museum, a painting by Bernard Strigel (1461- 1528) represents Johan Cuspinian wearing this fabric on one of his sleeves.
