Amulet hermaphrodite, known as "chasse-diable" for the protection of the couple.
Wrought iron, cut, carved and polished. Under a belt loop, a gothic arcature highlighted with gold dots supports three pendants, two of which are "mano fica" flanking the third, uniting the male and female sexes.
8, 87 cm.
NB: The mano-fica (fig hand) is a gesture of the left hand, against the evil eye. The thumb protrudes between the index and middle fingers as illustrated by Albrecht Dürer in his hand studies in 1495.
