Bears a family label with the handwritten words:
"Chair from the workshop of Jacob comes from the Chateau de l'Epée in Antibes where Madame Laetitia Bonaparte stayed during the captivity of Napoleon at Fort Carré 1795".
Note: the fall of Robespierre led to Bonaparte's imprisonment, from August 6 to 20, 1794, at the Fort Carré in Antibes (or in a nearby residence). The château de l'Espée in Antibes was built in the second half of the 19th century. This chair does not come from this castle.
